Chicago, the city known for its deep-rooted love for basketball, is set to honor the past players, coaches, and front-office staff who have played pivotal roles in shaping the Chicago Bulls into the iconic organization it is today. This recognition comes in the form of the 'Ring of Honor,' a first-of-its-kind celebration in the Bulls' history.

Unveiling the Ring of Honor

The Bulls unveiled their plans for the Ring of Honor recently. The inaugural class includes 13 men and the 1995-96 team, which holds the remarkable record of 72-10 and clinched the NBA title. The franchise plans to honor this group with a series of events in January.

Headliners of the Inaugural Class

The inaugural class for the Ring of Honor is headlined by basketball legends Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. Other honorees include Phil Jackson, Jerry Krause, Artis Gilmore, Jerry Sloan, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love, Chet Walker, Johnny "Red" Kerr, Tex Winter, and Dick Klein.

Phil Jackson, who coached the 1995-96 team, was instrumental in managing the team's dynamics and bringing out the best in the players. Jerry Krause, leading the front office, and Tex Winter, serving as an assistant coach, were also pivotal to the team's success.

Ringing in the Celebration

The celebration includes a private gala at the United Center on January 11 and a halftime presentation during a January 12 game against the Golden State Warriors. Interestingly, Steve Kerr, current coach of the Warriors, was also a 1995-96 Bulls team member.

Bulls' Vision for the Ring of Honor

The franchise plans to add to its Ring of Honor every two years, with the next class set to be inducted in 2026. The criteria for a player's inclusion include spending at least three seasons with the team and being retired from basketball for at least three years.
