MLB
Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization that comprises 30 teams, which are divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL). Twenty-nine teams are in the United States, while one is in Canada. Formed in 1876 and 1901, respectively, the NL and AL solidified their cooperation in 1903 with the National Agreement, making MLB the oldest major professional sports league in the world. Although the NL and AL remained legally separate entities for over 100 years, they merged into a single organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball in 2000. MLB is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.
